A Walk Through History tours

FIRST WEDNESDAY & THIRD FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH APRIL-OCTOBER | 10-11 a.m. | FREE

Our Walk Through History Tour offers participants a comprehensive understanding of the rich and fascinating history of the central corridor of the Park. Participants will be introduced to Henry Shaw and his vision for the Park, historic public landscapes and architecture, as well as the delightful anecdotes that go with this history, and how the Park continues to be used as a significant community resource.

Meet your docent at the Music Stand and join us for a 1-hour tour through the Central Corridor of the Park. The tour route is a 1/2 mile loop on a paved, accessible surface. The tour pacing is very slow, with frequent stops.

Stable Tours

SECOND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH APRIL-OCTOBER | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. | FREE

Take a tour of the historic Stables at Tower Grove Park! In this free public tour, you’ll get the chance to meet our Clydesdale, Moonshine, and our pony, Sheffield, and see the historic structure where they are housed and cared for. We’ll also discuss the history and founding of the Park as it relates to the Stables and the many animals that have lived there.

The tour traverses gravel, grass, and wooden pavers in indoor and outdoor environments. Tour is 25-minutes long, scheduled in intervals over a 2-hour time range.

Nee Kee Nee Tours

Variable schedule | FREE

Take a tour of the newly daylighted East Stream, also known as Nee Kee Nee! The stream recovery project features several large-scale raingardens that slow and filter stormwater and allow for deep soil infiltration. The project also honors the ancestral Osage people who inhabited the land prior to European settlement, with their story told throughout the stream including an Osage village reproduction, animal iconography, and native plantings of cultural significance. Learn about all of these components through a guided walk along the stream.

The tour traverses paved pathways, grass, and mulch in an outdoor environment. Tour is 1-hour long and meets at the Stupp Center. Please let us know of any accessibility needs in advance by emailing education@towergrovepark.org.
