Fun, Nature, and Discovery for All Ages
Tower Grove Park offers family-friendly spaces for active, joyful play—including the Splash Pad, Nee Kee Nee Playscape, and community basketball courts.
Splash Pad – Muckerman Children’s Fountain
Located beside the Central Playground near the Roman Pavilion, our splash pad offers a refreshing retreat for families during the warmer months. Children can cool off and explore the interactive pop jets, open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., typically from mid-June through October (weather permitting). This space is perfect for spontaneous play and summer memory-making.
Nee Kee Nee Playscape – East Stream
Named “Nee Kee Nee,” meaning “revived water” in the Osage language, this restored natural stream invites children and families to connect with nature through hands-on exploration. Open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the stream flows in 20-minute cycles, with time to splash, balance, and climb using natural elements like logs, stones, and stilts. An interactive water button activates the headwaters, delighting children and even furry companions.
Designed to support multi-generational, nature-based play, Nee Kee Nee is more than a playscape—it’s a celebration of the land’s heritage, ecology, and the joy of movement.
Community Basketball Courts
Two post-tension concrete courts and related amenities have been designed and built to complement the Park’s historic fabric as a National Historic Landmark. Opened in September 2023, they have immediately proven to be an important new way to welcome everyone to the Peoples’ Park. The Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
