A special message from Tower Grove Park regarding COVID-19

Updated 7/30/20

Tower Grove Park eagerly awaits returning to our normal operations. Under guidance from the City of St. Louis, we are developing a plan that opens the park in phases. Our primary concern is the safety of our staff, volunteers, and visitors, and our plan takes into account guidelines from the CDC and local health departments. The status of our reopening will be posted on here and our social media.

Facilities and Restrooms

The New Comfort, Old Comfort, and Roman Pavilion restrooms will be open from 9 a.m. to sunset. They will be monitored by staff and, in addition to cleaning, sanitized at least once per day. The doors are propped open to minimize touching.

The tennis center is open.

The playgrounds, drinking fountains, and exercise stations are closed until further notice to prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19 and to encourage social distancing.

Safety and Social Distancing

We encourage everyone to safely visit while maintaining recommended social distance. Parks are a place of solace and rejuvenation during difficult times, helping sustain our physical and mental health. We're taking special measures to keep the park clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Here is a helpful statement from the National Recreation and Park Association illustrating how to safely visit parks and trails. We welcome your visit to Tower Grove Park, but please:

  • Maintain the recommended 6 ft. distance from other visitors

  • Avoid areas with other people; find your own space in the park

  • Do not use the playgrounds, drinking fountains, or exercise stations

  • Avoid touching or using the pavilions, picnic tables, and benches

  • Do not visit the park if you are exhibiting symptoms

Office

To keep our team and the public safe, our Park Office will be closed until further notice. Office staff may be reached by phone and email listed at towergrovepark.org/directory.

Operations

We ask for your cooperation with our Operations Team with mowing the grass. Since there’s an increase use of the park, our staff needs to mow the grass with visitors present.

  • If you see a field being mowed, do not use that field until they are finished.

  • If they begin to mow a field you’re currently using, please leave the field until they are finished.

  • Do not approach staff while they are mowing.

Additionally, if interacting with our staff, please keep the recommended 6 ft. distance for everyone’s safety. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the park clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Tower Grove Farmers’ Market

For the rest of the season, Tower Grove Farmers’ Market will use the southbound side of Tower Grove Avenue/Center Cross as well as the eastern side of the Roman Pavilion, in addition to its usual footprint. This is the design called for in our 2017 community-based Master Plan in which hundreds of community members and the market participated. It's an additional 3,000+ sq. ft. to allow social distancing for both vendors and visitors. During the market, southbound vehicle traffic entering at Magnolia will divert around the west end of the Park, as northbound continues through in the normal flow.
