Summer is here, and with it I would like to take the opportunity to say a warm thank you to everyone who has made this past year at Tower Grove Park a success.
First, thank you to Shelley Donaho on her eight years of service as president of the Friends of Tower Grove Park. Over the years, Shelley has been a splendid leader and an inspiration for all of us. As an integral part of the Friends for many years, she will continue to strengthen the Park in her new role as a Park Commissioner. Along with that, I am delighted to congratulate Larry McCarthy on his new role as president of the Friends. Larry is a longtime supporter of Tower Grove Park, and a good friend and community leader. He will be an excellent president.
I want to note the passing of Sunny Glassberg. Sunny was a major contributor to the restoration of Tower Grove Park, especially our trees, and her generosity has played a key role in our revitalization of this wonderful park. Thanks Sunny!
Congratulations to James Fogle on his appointment to the Tower Grove Park Board of Commissioners, and to Caroline Ernst, our newest member of the Board of Directors of the Friends. I also want to personally welcome the new members of the Legacy Club, and thank them for their commitment to Tower Grove Park. I look forward to working with all of you.
Lastly, I would like to thank all those who joined us on the Moss Mountain trip to see P. Allen Smith’s Arkansas Garden Home. I was delighted to share that experience with each of you.
As we anticipated, effects of last year’s horrendous heat and drought continue to unfold. In particular, a large number of tulip poplar trees have succumbed despite good moisture so far this year. That moisture has made all the rest of the Park green and unusually beautiful this season.
Come see for yourself!
